The handsome 6′ 2 model and aspiring actor has captured the attention of modeling agencies and has done runway shows in Paris, New York, Miami, Barcelona and Los Angeles, among other locations. He has worked either as a model or spokesperson for several commercial campaigns, including Urban Republic, Iden Corporation, Maui Toys Corporation, B-utiful Brides, Xzavier and TightRope Magazine among others.
The San Antonio, Texas born model, however hasn’t depended solely on his chiseled looks for success. He attended the University of Texas, San Antonio, majoring in Finance and Engineering. He decided to relocate to Los Angeles, interested in further developing his artistic endeabors. “I was modelling while I was in school, so I thought I’d come out and have some fun and try it out and see what happens,” said Pratt. “I love modelling and travelling.”
Pratt started modelling by chance after being approached by an agent. “It was one of my best friend’s birthday, and we were in Vegas,” he said. “We were at the Rio and he (the agent) and I ended up talking and he gave me his card.” From that association, the agent flew him to Canada, New York and Europe where he began to establish himself as a valuable commodity in the modelling business. While in France, he worked with an agency called Paris, Paris and worked extensively there, gracing several runways. While in Canada, he worked on several commercial campaigns, including one of the premier watch campaigns, Bulova.
During Pratt’s career, he’s met many actors, actresses and supermodels. But he was most impressed by meeting Australian supermodel Sophie Turner. “She was so cool,” he said. “She was one of the coolest people I ever met.” Derek C. Pratt has plans to act in the near future. He has done commercials for a company called Vod, through Castleview Productions. Additionally, he was featured in “The Dream of Diego Marquez,” “The Perfect Partner” and was a principal for “Welcome Wagon Bride,” for the Canadian Network.
With his looks, intelligence and presence, Derek C. Pratt is definitely one of the People You Should Know

So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”
