President Barack Obama Deserves Four More Years-Commentary

First, before I go any further, we, The Scoop LA, enthusiastically support the Re-Election of President Barack Obama. And President Obama needs you. Without your vote, he cannot win.

Barack Obama has done a very commendable job of leading our country. He has provided steady leadership, reacting to crisis with a calm that defies belief.

The Scoop LA Debate Score

Presidential contender Mitt Romney is a shrewd politician. Maybe he bends the truth a little, but President Obama has a formidable foe in this 2012 election. Mr. Romney’s campaign fell into freefall after his dismissive and infamous 47% remark, which displayed an obvious pandering to rich donors. However, in the first televised Presidential debate, Romney managed to distance himself from remarks he previously made and changed the narrative of the election. Many in political circles felt that Mr. Romney, a known moderate who had been leaning way to the right in the previous months, adopted a moderate stance for the debate. It was extremely effective and President Obama, who expected Romney to adopt his previous positions, seemed taken aback by the “new” Mitt Romney. Romney attacked the President on the economy and Obama in his own words, ” had a bad night.” He seemed tired and distracted. Romney, who looked Presidential that evening, dominated the night and won the debate and had a spike in his poll numbers as a result.

The second debate, Obama, perhaps galvanized by Vice President Joe Biden’s inspiring and passionate debate with Paul Ryan, was dominating, scoring points on challenging Mitt Romney’s record and penchant of “flip-flopping” on issues. He was particularly effective near the end of the debate, when Romney made a huge gaffe by stating that the President had not informed the country on the first day of the Libya incident, only to be refuted by moderator Candy Crowley, an embarrassing moment for Romney. Obama, who saw blood, closed by attacking Romney on his 47% remark. A big win for the President.

In the third debate, Obama took the first punches, challenging Romney’s record on his statements on foreign policy with efficiency. He spoke of his record on foreign policy, killing Osama bin Laden, and on how he ended the Iraq war. He underlined his plans for ending the war in Afghanistan. Romney seemed uninterested in battling Obama and stuck to his own talking points. He agreed with the President’s handling of war, but seemingly had little ideas of his own. An exchange in the debate: “Our Navy is smaller now than any time since 1917,” said Mitt Romney. “I want to make sure that we have the ships that are required by our Navy.” Obama quickly took advantage of Romney’s foreign policy experience. “I think Govenor Romney hasn’t spent enough time looking at how our military works,” Obama quipped, “and that we have fewer ships than in 1916. Well, Govenor,we also have less horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military has changed.” Romney, who seemingly lacked any kind of foreign policy agenda, mentioned to the audience to visit his website. Obama jumped on that as well, observing that “we visited your website quite a bit and it still doesn’t work.” The lines of the debate. Romney seemed uncomfortable participating in a debate about foreign policy and lost this debate. Another win for President Obama.

Be sure to get out and vote! A current poll suggested that the election is very close with Romney leading by mere percentage points. For President Obama, African-Americans, Latinos, Whites and women, must get out in high numbers to get the win for Barack Obama. For those of you that dislike the thought of the two words “President Romney,” you must get out to vote and encourage all your friends and family to vote, too.
