Buying a home will likely present you with unimaginable challenges. After all, you are making a decision that is the decision of a lifetime- where are you going to live for the next 20-30 years? In what area would you like to raise your children? And where are areas that will ensure that our children will get the best in education? A good real estate agent will help you navigate some of these difficult and life-changing decisions. You want the best. And Neil Klemow, an agent and real estate guru with over 25 years’ experience in navigating your life decision IS the best.
Neil Klemow, from Wilkes Barre, Scranton, excelled in sports, including football, basketball and track. He came to Los Angeles in 1978 when his family relocated to Hollywood because his sister landed a significant role. “She never sold shoes, she never waited on tables, she has been an actress her entire life. She came out here to California and got the role of a lifetime, playing the lead role in Evita,” said Klemow. “So the whole family came out. My mom came out with her to help her get settled, and two years later, my Dad and I came out here.” He attended Santa Monica College. One of his first jobs involved the bakery business. “I’m working in a cookie place, baking organic cookies, working for this guy making vegan cookies,” Klemow reflected. “It was cutting edge.”
Neil, who had an interest in real estate, took some real estate courses at Santa Monica College. One day he came across an advertisement that changed his life. “I saw a job in advertisement on the board (at the school),” he said. “It said ‘Real Estate Assistant Wanted. Will train.’” Klemow, at the time, didn’t have a suit to wear, so he chose an interesting choice in attire. “I put on my college sweater, I have a Penn State sweater on, I sit down and meet the guy and he asked ‘where are you from?’” he reflected. “I told him I was from Pennsylvania, and he said I’ve never met anyone from Pennsylvania I didn’t like, and he hired me.” There was only one caveat. “Get a suit,” his new employer said. His first suit was a seersucker suit. “I got my first suit at Sears,” he laughed. His new employer not only showed him the ropes of real estate, but enabled Neil to get his real estate license, an invaluable tool to receive at a young age.
The job started at $15,000 a year and he found himself moving up the ladder quickly, making $30,000 in a short period of time. While there, he learned the real estate business, learning the nuances of building industrial complexes, shopping centers and more. “I was in the industrial division so we built and managed the portfolio of concrete tilt up warehouses, “he said. “We had half of million square feet from Alaska to Texas, so I would fly with my counterpart and we would go from San Diego to Oakland and we’d meet with brokers and hire brokers and here I am, some young kid about 26, and I’m looking to hire kids around my age. I was representing the company and it was kind of fun.” He stayed at that company for eight years and subsequently went into the real estate business on his own. “I was buying and selling homes near the University Of Southern California (USC),” said Neil Klemow. “I was picking up these old Victorian homes for $105,000, fixing them up, cleaning them up.” Buying those old Victorian homes gave Neil valuable experience, and he learned the real estate business from the ground up. “I rented the house to students that wanted to be near USC, “he said. “I had the golf team come in one year.”
The Los Angeles Riots changed the whole paradigm of the area and lot of businesses including Neil’s suffered during that time. Neil went into the rental business, renting homes and rooms to survive. He sold his house in Inglewood and moved to Van Nuys. Shortly after, he opened a foreclosure business in Glendale with a couple of business partners. But soon, he discovered that the real estate market, buying and selling houses was his passion. “My motto was ‘if I can’t sell you a house, I’ll buy it.’” That motto has served Neil Klemow well. There are a lot of real estate agents. Why should you use the services of Neil Klemow? What makes Neil Klemow head and shoulders over the rest? “I think the problem with most brokers is that they don’t realize that they have two ears and one mouth,” he explained. “So I pride myself on listening to my client. The key is knowing your client. You must know your client. You must know everything about your client. You want to know as much as you can and know what they like because when you have to choose a property and you bring it to them and it’s nothing that they wanted, it’s because you didn’t listen to your client and it shows. But if you listen to your client and able to dial it in, you’ll have a client for life.” His experience is unparalleled, he is not a new agent or broker that doesn’t know the market, he’s a real estate professional that knows the market, and has the experience and know how to help you make the best and most informed decision that you can make for your housing needs. “What I pride myself on is winning multiple offers, that’s the hardest thing,” he said. “Second place doesn’t mean anything, who wants that? I know all the angles to work.” So why not get the best in real estate brokering? If you have Neil Klemow as your agent, he will work to earn your business to have you as his client for life.
