Inspirational Coaching and Advice

By Kim Somers Egelsee

At different times in our lives, we go through a very difficult or painful experience. It may be something that we did, and we feel guilty or shameful. It may be that a person close to us did something hurtful. It could be a small nudge, itch or feeling that we cannot shake. An inner knowing that our life has to change, our purpose needs to be found, life has to move forward, even if fear or uncertainty are involved. This is a gift, an opportunity to create space for greatness to enter. Often we need help from a coach, mentor, advice column, seminar or friend to help us be aware, focused and clear to answer the following query into our lives:

How do I make room for greatness and find my right path or purpose?

To make room for greatness, it is best to make a list of the things you could be saying no to. For example, a friend of mine in one day, broke up with her boyfriend, lost one of her jobs and quit her band. At first she was devastated. However, with some thought and coaching, she realized that she now had the space for greatness to enter. She soon filled up that space with doing her dream career. She still has the opening for love to enter, and has faith that the right love will come in. Sometimes your “no” has to be this extreme. Other times, it can be saying no to watching TV, hanging out with certain friends, and surfing the web too much. With this open space, there is room to soul search, try new things, and attend workshops to allow your passions to show up.

There are many ways to find your path or purpose. Attending a workshop, seeing a coach or mentor, meditation, stillness, reading, writing, receiving feedback from others, making space for greatness, and dreamboarding are just some ways to start getting clear on what you truly want.

By applying these things and studying with Niurka, an inspirational figure in my life, I was able to go that extra mile and get to my purpose. I was able to interview her here, which will further answer coaching and advice questions for this column.

I have had the beautiful opportunity and adventure of experiencing Niurka speak numerous times at events, seminars and workshops throughout California in the past several years. As a result of attending events like SUCCESS magazine’s symposium, workshops like Sales Mastery, and seminars such as Supreme Influence In Action, I have gained wisdom, knowledge, purpose, and joy.

Niurka is a transformational guide, behavior scientist, NLP master, author and more. Her work inspires and empowers people to live powerfully, authentically and purposefully. She has studied and taught the most powerful strategies in business, leadership, sales, science and spirituality. I had the gift of interviewing her recently, which was such a treat, as I consider her one of my mentors, and an amazing person.

Tell us about your journey; you’ve accumulated a massive amount of diverse knowledge. Take us back to how it all began.

I was frustrated growing up in my early teens. The communication was just not there, and I was not feeling in my power. I had an inner knowing even then that I was destined for more. At age 12, my parents changed religions, and that shift caused me to ask many very deep questions, read, study and look very sincerely and relentlessly. I studied business and self/purpose to balance freedom and understanding. Each year I studied a new spirituality and applied it. Then they all came together. From my deepest pain, with searching, I realized that from what challenges you most is where your greatest gift lies. Everyone has their own unique gift. Look at what isn’t working, and go deep within, being devoted to being on purpose, and the pieces will come together.

How have you evolved personally and professionally?

I initially worked very successfully with Anthony Robbins in the corporate professional world. I began working in two different worlds-financial and business for the freedom, and then the spiritual realm. I then started my own company. Two days into starting my business, I landed clients. Over time, the business and spiritual came together into alignment, about 6 years into starting my own business and truly came into what I envisioned.

Do you ever have fears and limiting beliefs, and if so, how do you overcome them?

While working with Tony Robbins, I always worked with people to transform limiting beliefs into empowering beliefs. I realize now that the highest choice is to have no beliefs, to be in the eternal, to respond from presence. Past beliefs don’t apply now.

I do not have limiting beliefs. Fears can come up at times, but it’s like recognition when it comes up. I ask what the message is here, what’s the gift? I choose to find the wisdom there. For people, when fear shows up, invite it in, do not label it. Gather the learning and let whole new possibilities appear.
