Actress, model, and musician Natasha Blasick, has a lot to be excited about these days. The stunning actress from Odessa, Ukraine has been in demand, appearing in several projects, including the award-winning live action video game “Immortality,” which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, playing a real-life WWII heroine who saved fifty-two children in a Nazi concentration camp in Luba. Additionally, in the yet to be released film, “All Star Weekend,” Jamie Foxx’s directorial debut, she appeared alongside Foxx, Gerald Butler, Jeremy Piven and Eva Longoria.
“This year has been really magical for me,” said Natasha Blasick. “In fact, the last couple of years have been really magical for me.” Indeed, the rising, multi-talented star is beginning to catch the attention of Hollywood and the film industry, winning the Rising Star award at the Melbourne Independent Film Festival for her outlandish comedic portrayal of a traveling porn producer in the film “Hollywood Laundromat,” directed by Michael Baumgarten.
Natasha Blasick has a recurring part in Peacock’s original series “Paul T. Goldman,” from Executive Producer Seth Rogan, due to be released on January 1st, 2023. “This was like a total dream come true,” she explained. “It was a lot of material to audition for, it was like ten pages. I read it, and I really loved it, right away. Weeks later, my manager called me and said, ‘you’re their number one choice.’ It seemed like it actually was a dream.”
Although Seth Rogan is not featured in the film, he had high praise for Natasha’s work in the film. “I met him at the premiere, and he was very positive about my acting,” said Natasha. “It was surreal.” You can see Natasha, who has a recurring role, starting in Episode 2. Additionally, she is the female lead in the upcoming epic “Karaganda,” portraying the wife of a post-Soviet crime boss.
Working with Jamie Foxx proved to be an incredible experience for the stunning actress. When she arrived for the audition, Foxx had a surprise for her. “I walked in, and Jamie’s there and he asked me, ‘do you mind if we improv a little?’” she said. “I said ‘sure,’ I’m going to be doing improv with the best comedian in the world.” It proved to be fruitful for Natasha.
“As soon as I hit the freeway, my manager called and said, ‘you booked the part.’ I was crying, but at the same time I was shocked,” she reflected. Jamie Fox was so impressed with her acting, that he showed her reel to other actresses. “He was so inspiring,” he said. “The whole experience gave me confidence. It meant so much to me that he believed in me so much.”
Natasha studied dance, acted in several plays, and competed in beauty contests in Ukraine. The intelligent and stunning lady also earned a master’s degree in International Economy before moving to the US. However, the war in Ukraine has thrown her family into upheaval. Her mother, who migrated here to escape the conflict, was eventually joined in the US by her father who initially stayed behind.
“He didn’t want to leave, because he had work,” she said. “My mom was here, and we were watching the news and the bombs were dropping, it was so horrifying. He was saying that the rockets were flying by, and they were bombing the airports, because where we lived was not too far from it (the airport) in a ninth story building. We were begging him to come here.” After a dangerous trek from Ukraine, her dad came to US to join her mother and Natasha. She feels strongly about helping her home country, and she and her husband are doing their part to make a difference.
With her pop duo “Snowflakes,” which features her husband, Martin Blasick, a sensational songwriter, guitarist and arranger, Natasha released “Ukraine Will Prevail.” “He writes all of our songs,” she said. “He’s been doing it for a really long time, he’s worked on all kinds of TV shows and with a bunch of celebrities.” She has quite of bit of admiration for her husband. “He’s a very talented guy, that’s why I like him,” she laughed. “When I met him, while I was back in Ukraine and I was listening to him, I said ‘oh my God, this person is actually crazy. He’s writing songs for movies, wow, he doesn’t even live in the same reality, it was such a different world to me, a completely different world.’” The songs they compose cover a spectrum of topics. “We sing about the environment and UFO’s and of course, love, she said. ”Ukraine Will Prevail, is a different level of writing, it was so important to both of us.”
The track, featuring an impressive, driving bass line, nailed by Natasha, has all the markings of being Ukraine’s battle song, a song that can inspire troops to action. In fact, the song has a high thumbs up from one of the Ukrainian soldiers that are fighting on the front lines. ”When the war started, I asked Martin, could you please write a song?” she asked. “Once the song was done, I sent it over to a guy I went to the University with, and he’s now fighting (on the front lines) in Ukraine. We asked ‘what do you think, what do you think? He loved it, and it was so meaningful for us.’”
The emotional song, which features exciting vocals and guitar by her husband Martin is so powerful, it will give you chills. Ukrainian president Zelensky himself, should hear the amazing track for inspiration for his troops, it is that powerful. A solo artist as well, Natasha also performs her own brand of pop-electronica music.
A bonafide rising star, Natasha Blasick, for her talent, grace and nationalism for her country, Ukraine, under siege, is definitely one of the People You Should Know.
