Warren Eckstein-His Hugs And Kisses Animal Fund Foundation Seeks To Fund Small Animal Rescue Organizations

Warren Eckstein is fully aware of his station in life. Considered one of the best pet experts in the world, his clients have included former President Ford, David Letterman, Lily Tomlin, Geraldine Ferraro,  Al Pacino, Cheryl Tiegs and Rodney Dangerfield. “He was one of the nicest guys,” said Eckstein about Dangerfield. “He loved his animal and one of the funniest lines I ever heard was when he said to me, ‘Talk about no respect, Warren, my dog closes his eyes before he humps my leg.”  Warren, however, loves and respects all animals regardless of the stature of his clients. “The one thing is that no matter who you are, whether you’re a president, a vice-presidential candidate or just Joe who lives in West Hollywood with a Schnauzer, when you’re talking about your pet with someone who loves pets, everyone is on the same level,” he said.” Warren’s station and life’s mission is to care for animals; to teach them, educate them, and to teach their owners most importantly, to love your pets “as part of the family.”

He’s served on the Board of Directors for several of the largest humane and rescue organizations in the country. Many of those organizations, however, are overwhelmed, leaving a large percentage of animals to be cared for by what Eckstein calls “mom and pop” groups, who raise money by garage sales and other means. “These are the ones that sit outside of Petco or PetSmart(sp) to adopt a few dogs or the ones that have that occasional auction to raise money, these are the people that are out there every day, really walking the walk,” he explained. The Hugs and Kisses Foundation, a 501(c) organization founded by Eckstein in memory of his wife Fay, who died in 1990, is devoted to funding several small domestic and international animal organizations that are advocates for pets and their care.  “We’re kind of focusing on becoming like The United Way for pets as we grow,” he explained. “And what’s going to separate us, is that we’re never going to be a rich foundation, because when the money comes in, it is going to immediately go out and help the people that really need it, the people that really help the animals.”

His love for pets began in Long Lsland, NY. Warren was a shy youngster, and found an affinity with animals. “I grew up in a typical Jewish household, where there was never less than 15 people hanging in my house, which drove me absolutely crazy,” he laughed. “Behind my house on Long Island was a little creek and in that creek were Canada geese, ducks, muskrats and rats and snapping turtles. So whenever I just had enough with the people in my house, I just went directly into that area in the swamp and hung out with the animals. I’ve always felt more comfortable being around animals than people.”

Some of Warren’s experiences have placed him with animals and creatures, not found in a typical household. “When I first came back from overseas, (he served in the military) and I first started establishing my reputation, I was doing a lot of television commercials,” said Warren. “I remember being called to do a TV commercial with eight chimpanzees dressed in Bill Blass suits.”  The personable pet expert has also served as the creature keeper for “The New Mickey Mouse Club” and worked with paparazzi stars, such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilar and Justin Timberlake. “Every week, or every other week, I would go to Orlando, Florida and we’d do a bunch of segments and I’d bring on lizards and bring on snakes, ” said Eckstein, who holds a degree in Psychology and studied in Frankfurt, Germany, which gave him the experience of working with some of the top animal trainers in the world. “I’d go in the Living Seas tank with the sharks and the dolphins and show it to The Mouseketeers, so I’ve had the opportunity of working with just about every type of animal.”

Warren’s recognition as a renowned pet guru has made him a into television icon. No longer, the shy, introverted kid in Long Island, he became a popular fixture on ABC-TV’s Regis and Kathee Lee Show. “For years and years and years, I’ve been working with animals in the New York area and before Regis became really popular in New York, there was a local show, just a New York show called “Good Morning New Yorker, AM New York,” said Warren Eckstein. “Regis was the host and there was a co-host at the time. They called me in as a guest and I guess, the segment was very successful.” The show, slated to be sold nationally, featured Eckstein’s appearance. “They put me on the demo reel and then I just started doing a show and for fourteen years I was their pet and animal expert. I had a very successful run,” he said. Eckstein later migrated to NBC, where he enjoyed a successful stint on The Today Show for 10 years. But alas, Eckstein, a California resident, after a period of time, realized that commuting from the west coast to the east coast had taken a toll on him. “When American Airlines sent me a note that said I’ve flown over two million miles, I said, ‘that’s enough, buddy,'” he laughed.”I was going back to New York on the average of least 5 to 6 times a month. So that was just way too much travelling.” Additionally, Warren, a favorite of the video generation, worked with MTV when MTV was in its inception. He also has found himself involved with all kinds of training situations with animals, including disasters. “I did a lot of work on 9/11 with some of the New York City Police K-9 units,” he explained.

The Foundation has several members on its team that are as passionate about animals as Warren. Yvette Burke, Executive Director, contributes much of her time to the Foundation, as well as Vice President Jan Murree and Trustees, Denise Madden(Warren’s wife) and Carrie Aikman. Currently, Eckstein is working on a television show and DVD series with producer Lisa Hutchison/ Of Like Mind Productions. Hutchison is also passionate about animals and their well being and works tirelessly for animal rights. Their Advisory Board includes various television icons such as Tony Dow, best known as “Wally” on the “Leave It To Beaver” series, Tom Arnold and Michael Rosenbaum, of the show “Smallville,” among others.

Warren Eckstein’s radio show, The Pet Show, can be found in several markets, including KRLA, 870 AM in Los Angeles and KTIE 590 AM in San Bernardino and Riverside between 11AM-1PM on Saturdays. “At 1PM, I start my national show, which is in 135 cities including Canada, The Virgin Islands and six stations in Hawaii,” said Eckstein. “It covers a lot of areas of California, like San Jose and Sacramento. Some people listen in Ventura County, Palm Springs, so we have 135 affiliates now.”

On August 8th, The Hugs and Kisses Animal Fund will hold its first annual benefit at The Sportsman’s Lodge in Studio City at 6PM. The event will feature comedian Elayne Boosler, The Buzz Maddox Band, The Swing Dolls, Magician Jon Armstrong, and Roslyn Kind (Barbra Streisand’s sister) among others. • No, you can’t wear it as everyday casual wear, because of the spikes. Its like trying to wear cleats out. If you tried wearing them to just go out in, they wouldn’t be comfortable at all.

  • I have had New Balance, Nike, and more. But my favorite is Asics no other competition. And I have a extremely narrow foot, and I am a long distance runner. Asics has the best support and feels the best. But just so you know my team mate says she likes Brooks better because she thinks there more narrow. But the rest of my team and I love Asics.

  • you can go to a good shoe store and they can help you. We have stores up in NH that will make a insert to the mold of your feet, or what you need to feel comfortable. I have plantar fasciitis, as well as fallen arches. (gotta love the infantry). I got some sweet inserts, work great.

  • My son is 10 months and we haven’t bought him any proper shoes yet – he doesn’t wear shoes at all – just socks. Until they’re walking they don’t need shoes it’s a waste of money.

  • well PDAs were just Personal Digital Assistants. Some cell phones are smart phones, which are PDA’s. A PDA does not have to be a cell phone. try bestbuy?

  • I think in the uk you can get some kit that has 4 cams a hard drive hidden in your house that records a cetain time wether they can link it to send an email photo not sure ok but I can get that number for you ok

  • No , you will need a certain type to be able to use it over the internet router. For adjusting quality each recorder would do it a little different but there should be some way to do that. Good luck

  • Its a good thing you are not my child. You wouldn’t have anything left.I would ground you from everything..Your mother is being very lenient with you..Be thankful you are not scrubbing toilets and staying at home all the time…

  • Any webcam can do this if you computer is up and running…. Otherwise I love this little webcam. Need electrical and a network cable…. Also need to open up a port on your ISP router to allow web access to the device…. See URL below:

First off, do you mean 1,000 mi ride as a 100 mi ride is a ride around town. We take a truck with our gear in it(clothes and a gas can in case a rider runs out of gas) 2 ride in the truck and the rest on bikes. After a while we switch off if any one is tired and needs a break If the weather is good we go 1,000 mi before we stop for the nite. The next day 2 riders unload their bikes and 2 load theirs up in the truck and we take off again. Within the next 700-1,000 mi we have reached our destination with all our gear on the truck and if no one needed the gas we divide it up (about a gallon a-piece to save on fill-ups and "Yahoo we are here"!

They have to stay wet if they were found wet. Any evaporation will take away from the quality if the sound of the recordings so they have to be handled in keeping with that thought. Sorry if this sounds similar.

They leak — even expensive ones. And when they’re full of ice and your beverage of choice, they’re heavy and unweildy. Of course, there are already ones on wheels, but I always wanted one with MOTORIZED, self-propelled wheels and balloon tires for moving over sandy places.

  • It is risky to go on a ride with a Volvo as a support vehicle since you will have a tough time fitting even a single broken down Harley in the back of a Volvo wagon. Since it sounds like you guys are part of the small group of “long distance” Hog owners going on rides as long as 100 miles you really need to ride with a four door pickup and enclosed trailer. It looks like you have planned ahead for these super long rides with multiple outfits, but without a trailer and pickup you can get stuck out on a cold day or even worse in the rain (and we all know how Harleys hate to get wet). Rather than go on the long grueling rides may and my buddies usually just send our mechanic out in the truck with the bikes in a trailer full of tools and spare parts and have him meet us at the airport since any ride over 20 miles on a Harley is tough…

until she starts to roll over. There is also a weight requirement that should come in the box. I stopped using it with my baby a about 3 months. My baby was never heavy but she started rolling over at 3 months so i had to stop.

  • Simple rule – when they look like they are outgrowing it, then put them in a cot. A friend of mine had her son in one till he was 6 months. He was a small baby but you just have to play these things by year. If you are worried about buying it and not getting much use from it (as what happens with a lot of baby gear) bypass the bassinet and go straight to a cot. I did. When I wanted my baby to stay closer to me, I would put her to sleep in her stroller. She liked it.

  • baby stores says:

i liked having both. because a bassinet is easy with a newborn becuase they can be in your room and with changing and feeding as much as newborns need its easier. I breastfed so i didnt really have to even get up i just fed him and changed him the put him right back in his bassinet. But you dont need one.

  • A worming blanket, as another user suggested is a good idea. Also try putting him crib when he is awake, so he gets uses to it. Also make sure there is a Night Light near by when he is sleeping.

  • baby cots says:

I started by letting my son take naps in his crib during the day and then I started eventually letting him sleep in it at night with a baby monitor in there of course and I turned it up really high to where I could hear his every move

  • Brilliant This really is one of the most beneficial websites I’ve ever come across on this subject.

  • I enjoyed it Just after Once more. I take pleasure from visiting Ones New homepage reason being end users routinely article great content. very nice writeup..I have on already bookmark this site. I believe I shall subscribe how to the site feed also. any a currently purchase new droid x?? it is awfully sweet……

  • i have no idea but what you CAN do is try buying a 7.0 checking the motor and then returning it. that way you can have your cake and eat it too, good luck

  • You didn’t hear this from me, but the key is probably for a simply open contact switch. I would imagine there are two wires that go into the back of the key slot. Take those off and wire nut them together and the circuit will remain closed. Of course if you fall the treadmill won’t stop and you could get pulled into an unstoppable cycle, but you won’t have to worry about lost keys.

  • I also just purchased this same treadmill. I caled the service number 800-526-0244. Since I had an error code appear, 3, then they said it was the front roller that needed to be replace. they ordered the part and said they would send a tech out to fix it. might want to call them. good luck

  • You are probably too heavy for the treadmill in question. Sometimes older treadmills also have crappy motors that are no good any longer. You can try to losen the belt up, put on some lubricant, and tighten the belt really good. Sometimes just tightening the walking belt up can fix the problem, but it’s probably just not rated for your size. (That seems to be the same problem with at least 3 out of 5 treadmills I have got).

  • If you look online at sportcraft.com they have a couple models on recall due to this exact problem, we had a tx25 which they claimed they had no problems with this issue, of course our did it though. I have also seen at least 2 other posts on here with the same issue, so that amounts to about 5 of their models all doing this. When I contacted them they offered to upgrade us to a much more expensive model or give us a refund. Due to the fact that 5 different models are doing this I did not trust doing a upgrade because they will only do this once, and then you are stuck even if the new one is defective. I went for the refund, it takes awhile for them to send it out but I have no regrets, it appears that they are not a quality product. Ours just started racing at full speed without warning one day when it had worked flawlessly before, the company said it was probably the computer, but all of them were backordered at the time.. they don’t appear to be a safe product. hope this helps…

  • I know this may be off topic, but what platform are you running your website on? I only ask because I want to set up a web page also and I really like your styling. Back on topic, I think your post is one of my all time favorites – I may have to do a trackback once i get my blog set up so I can spread the word.

  • They are very good quality speakers, but all speakers are a matter of personal preference, so buy what you like. Just don’t be fooled by the punchy bass of Bose speakers, that sound great at first, but then you realize the overall sound quality is pretty bad & they cost way too much. I also like Boston Acoustics alot.

  • They are both good, but you need to listen to them and decide which one you like. Speakers sound different to different people, so I what I think are better aren’t necessarily what you think are better.

Hello, nice to come to your blog!

  • WEll I would look at Pioneer Elite for a reciever. I have been very happy with the features and warmer sound. For speaker take a look at Paradigm of Canada. They make speakers starting at $109.00. The Monitor 7 Series is a steal at $649.00 for a 3 way speaker. You can make a very good surround speaker set up for about $1200.00

  • definitive technology is 1 of the best speaker companies in the world… several awards and ces wins!! i own a pair of bp-3000s they are very reliable speakers! i also repair electronics and am repairing klipsch pro media 5.1 right now! klipsch is not what it used to be.. on the other hand def tech continues to win award after award! thats my 2 cents!!

  • Yes Klipsch is a good brand. The deal you got is great. I am also considering purchasing the same speaker for my Zune. Only thing is that it will not charge it.

  • It depends on your devices, especially your receiver. And now I know that your receiver is Denon AVR- 588 Which just supported HDMI pass through. It means you need to connect a optical or a coaxial from DVD ( any devices ) to receiver to get surround sound. HDMI carries audio and video only on receivers called HDMI switching or HDMI repeater.

Going along with the the first answer ; your VCR can receive by scart, or RF lead. Scart connection is the modern way; you can access this by using "input select" on the remote control, to find the AV channel that it is connected to. RF connecting requires you to tune in to a spare UHF channel. You are restricted for recording by using your current recorder, because you cannot record one digital channel, and watch another. For that, you need a new-fangled PVR.

The tapes don’t care whether it’s analogue or digital, just connect a scart from the digibox to the recorder & another from recorder to telly & set the recorder to the AV channel that is the output of the digibox you will find there are 2 scart sockets on the recorder, 1 of these is INPUT only & this is the one you connect to the digibox the other one goes to the telly & if they are not marked then swop them over until you see the picture on your telly.

  • I definitely like your internet site but you need to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your articles. Some of them are filled with punctuation mistakes and I believe it is very problematic to tell the truth nonetheless I definitely will come back again.
