Warren Eckstein-His Hugs And Kisses Animal Fund Foundation Seeks To Fund Small Animal Rescue Organizations

Warren Eckstein is fully aware of his station in life. Considered one of the best pet experts in the world, his clients have included former President Ford, David Letterman, Lily Tomlin, Geraldine Ferraro, Al Pacino, Cheryl Tiegs and Rodney Dangerfield. “He was one of the nicest guys,” said Eckstein about Dangerfield. “He loved his animal and one of the funniest lines I ever heard was when he said to me, ‘Talk about no respect, Warren, my dog closes his eyes before he humps my leg.” Warren, however, loves and respects all animals regardless of the stature of his clients. “The one thing is that no matter who you are, whether you’re a president, a vice-presidential candidate or just Joe who lives in West Hollywood with a Schnauzer, when you’re talking about your pet with someone who loves pets, everyone is on the same level,” he said.” Warren’s station and life’s mission is to care for animals; to teach them, educate them, and to teach their owners most importantly, to love your pets “as part of the family.”
He’s served on the Board of Directors for several of the largest humane and rescue organizations in the country. Many of those organizations, however, are overwhelmed, leaving a large percentage of animals to be cared for by what Eckstein calls “mom and pop” groups, who raise money by garage sales and other means. “These are the ones that sit outside of Petco or PetSmart(sp) to adopt a few dogs or the ones that have that occasional auction to raise money, these are the people that are out there every day, really walking the walk,” he explained. The Hugs and Kisses Foundation, a 501(c) organization founded by Eckstein in memory of his wife Fay, who died in 1990, is devoted to funding several small domestic and international animal organizations that are advocates for pets and their care. “We’re kind of focusing on becoming like The United Way for pets as we grow,” he explained. “And what’s going to separate us, is that we’re never going to be a rich foundation, because when the money comes in, it is going to immediately go out and help the people that really need it, the people that really help the animals.”
His love for pets began in Long Lsland, NY. Warren was a shy youngster, and found an affinity with animals. “I grew up in a typical Jewish household, where there was never less than 15 people hanging in my house, which drove me absolutely crazy,” he laughed. “Behind my house on Long Island was a little creek and in that creek were Canada geese, ducks, muskrats and rats and snapping turtles. So whenever I just had enough with the people in my house, I just went directly into that area in the swamp and hung out with the animals. I’ve always felt more comfortable being around animals than people.”
Some of Warren’s experiences have placed him with animals and creatures, not found in a typical household. “When I first came back from overseas, (he served in the military) and I first started establishing my reputation, I was doing a lot of television commercials,” said Warren. “I remember being called to do a TV commercial with eight chimpanzees dressed in Bill Blass suits.” The personable pet expert has also served as the creature keeper for “The New Mickey Mouse Club” and worked with paparazzi stars, such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilar and Justin Timberlake. “Every week, or every other week, I would go to Orlando, Florida and we’d do a bunch of segments and I’d bring on lizards and bring on snakes, ” said Eckstein, who holds a degree in Psychology and studied in Frankfurt, Germany, which gave him the experience of working with some of the top animal trainers in the world. “I’d go in the Living Seas tank with the sharks and the dolphins and show it to The Mouseketeers, so I’ve had the opportunity of working with just about every type of animal.”
Warren’s recognition as a renowned pet guru has made him a into television icon. No longer, the shy, introverted kid in Long Island, he became a popular fixture on ABC-TV’s Regis and Kathee Lee Show. “For years and years and years, I’ve been working with animals in the New York area and before Regis became really popular in New York, there was a local show, just a New York show called “Good Morning New Yorker, AM New York,” said Warren Eckstein. “Regis was the host and there was a co-host at the time. They called me in as a guest and I guess, the segment was very successful.” The show, slated to be sold nationally, featured Eckstein’s appearance. “They put me on the demo reel and then I just started doing a show and for fourteen years I was their pet and animal expert. I had a very successful run,” he said. Eckstein later migrated to NBC, where he enjoyed a successful stint on The Today Show for 10 years. But alas, Eckstein, a California resident, after a period of time, realized that commuting from the west coast to the east coast had taken a toll on him. “When American Airlines sent me a note that said I’ve flown over two million miles, I said, ‘that’s enough, buddy,'” he laughed.”I was going back to New York on the average of least 5 to 6 times a month. So that was just way too much travelling.” Additionally, Warren, a favorite of the video generation, worked with MTV when MTV was in its inception. He also has found himself involved with all kinds of training situations with animals, including disasters. “I did a lot of work on 9/11 with some of the New York City Police K-9 units,” he explained.
The Foundation has several members on its team that are as passionate about animals as Warren. Yvette Burke, Executive Director, contributes much of her time to the Foundation, as well as Vice President Jan Murree and Trustees, Denise Madden(Warren’s wife) and Carrie Aikman. Currently, Eckstein is working on a television show and DVD series with producer Lisa Hutchison/ Of Like Mind Productions. Hutchison is also passionate about animals and their well being and works tirelessly for animal rights. Their Advisory Board includes various television icons such as Tony Dow, best known as “Wally” on the “Leave It To Beaver” series, Tom Arnold and Michael Rosenbaum, of the show “Smallville,” among others.
Warren Eckstein’s radio show, The Pet Show, can be found in several markets, including KRLA, 870 AM in Los Angeles and KTIE 590 AM in San Bernardino and Riverside between 11AM-1PM on Saturdays. “At 1PM, I start my national show, which is in 135 cities including Canada, The Virgin Islands and six stations in Hawaii,” said Eckstein. “It covers a lot of areas of California, like San Jose and Sacramento. Some people listen in Ventura County, Palm Springs, so we have 135 affiliates now.”
On August 8th, The Hugs and Kisses Animal Fund will hold its first annual benefit at The Sportsman’s Lodge in Studio City at 6PM. The event will feature comedian Elayne Boosler, The Buzz Maddox Band, The Swing Dolls, Magician Jon Armstrong, and Roslyn Kind (Barbra Streisand’s sister) among others. My son is into the same sports. I redid his room this past summer. I designated a wall for each sport. He had some old skate boards,some were even broken, that I hung on 1 wall. On the other wall (he also hunts) I put a poster of a deer, a bow with some arrows and hung a camo bag. On the other wall, I put up black wooden shelves and put toy dirt bikes on the.Then I got 6 black photo frames and put pictures from magazines in them. The pictures look like the ones you would pay $25 for and I did them all for about $10. I painted 1 wall a darker accent color, got bedding & throw pillows to match and an area rug for the middle of the room.
I have lots of black furniture…"Hitchcock" is the manufacturer (very Connecticut Yankee) and it 18th century black tole or black decorator colonial in design…I’m kind of a collector…it mixes well with everything. The white wall is good. As for a comforter I’d go for an Olde Gold color, Put a fake oriental carpet in front and runner on side to give it a pick up. Something with black and gold in it, with rust or hint of red. You already have a good base color for the carpet. It works well with contemporary as well. It really depends on which filter you are speaking of. If its the pre-filter then yes, you can simply rinse it. Its probably better to replace it as carbon is also removed a major component of the pre-filter. If you are speaking of the HEPA filter then NO. The HEPA filter is a paper type filter that can only be replaced. You can extend the life "slightly" by tapping the particles loose.
No you don’t have to keep it wet if you are using it for your allergies as I use mine it doesn’t need to be wet just think you wet it turn around with it in your hand in the air you just put air pollens on it which is germ allow it to get the natural wetness for the mist that will be in it!
Nope, done it before too… Just wait until its super dry- air dry don’t put a hair dryer on it- it will burn up. Just let it rest for a few days so it’s completely dry.

Depending on the furnace there are many different proving devices that could be cleaned and/checked. one thing you can do is take the cover off the tstat and take an alligator clip and jump from red to white this should bypass the tstat. if you still have no heat then it’s probably not the thermostat

i would reccomend just a normal backpack… you don’t have to worry about what your bag looks like. the main purpose of your bag should be to get your books from class to class in the simplest/most comfortable way. so just use whatever works for you

Well that depends on the school and size of the books. a few years ago i used a my chemical romance messenger and kept four books (english, math, and two science which all for tennessee are quite big) a pencil pouch and other various things inside. all i can tell you to do is buy it, try it, and if it doesnt work you have a new purse
Target and places like that (walmart, kohls, etc) have ones that are cheap and durable and nice. I got two of mine there. Lots of styes to choose from, too.
personally id say neither. i had a messenger bag my sophomore year and my history book and binder were so heavy that i broke the strap. i used a tote bag my senior year but only at the end because i only had two books and i didnt use one of them very much. Depending on how many classes youre taking, id say use a backpack because you can fit your binders and books in it with no problem. plus, theres more support on your shoulder

no you can only gain the thickness of the dry wall …without having to re-engeneer your wall. those studs are their for a reason….. they hold up your roof…

Can’t go wrong with Henckels knives.Buy the best you can afford. I’ve had my 4 star knives for years. The company is very good and replaced a knife I snapped while carving a pumpkin.
i have used them and they are very good but not built for professional use dont get me wrong they are ultra sharp but loose there edge if use for 2-3 hours a day so they would need to be sharpened quite often and would wear down quite quickly but for amateur kitchen use they are good value
I would recommend the Kershaw Shun line of cutlery. It’s a japanese brand which is handcrafted in the Japanese tradition of folding steel. The knives are beautiful and extremely sharp. They’re Alton Brown’s knife of choice and are relatively unknown right now, so I feel that for the same money they’re a higher quality knife. Any cutlery store should carry them.
I have used Henckels for many years and the steel won’t have to be replaced. However, I surely do not recommend using a mechanical sharpener for your knives as they can cut into the steel. Much better to pick up a whet stone at your local hardware.
Carbon stays sharper longer and stainless is easy to clean, but never wash your knives in really hot water, The heat will make the razor thin edge curl over making it appear dull, and never put them in the silverware drawer, because it is dangerous and it is to hard on the edges, I stick mine in a wooden block and the other between the stove and the counter, That way I know where they are at all times. But I believe the very best knife deal in from a company called CutCo. I have used knives for a living for over 35yrs and the demo I got assured me that they are the best deal out there, they may seem expensive but you do the math, over your lifetime they are a steal, all you do is touch something and it goes right through nice and easy, I would get a cut resistant glove just to be a little safer. Chicago Cutlery also has nice knives. You need to find a knife the feels good in your hand, good balance, and for the right job, it’s personal thing, there is no one size fits all. Your paying good money, then get something nice, you will appreciate it and take care of it better. and try to keep one for yourself, not for sharing. CutCo will always keep you in sharp knives for the rest of your life, go with them if you can
It does sound simple, and it probably would be if it were possible. Unfortunately there’s actually no way to do that. The best you can do is set up a route for it, then look at the map. If you zoom in far enough you should be able to see the street name and the house numbers on that block.

You can also purchase maps which might be the best option if you have had it a while. I think there is a sale on at the moment, as I keep getting emails from tomtom.

Blade will give you closest shave, but more irritation. Electric not as close but less irritation. For acne skin I recommend an electric shaver set to sensitive skin.
Because the electric shaver doesnt get as close as a regular razor would. The thing that touches your face is usually a guard so you dont cut the crap out of yourself. The blade goes back and forth extremely fast. It wouldn’t be wise to use without the guard.
i have to agree with NJ guy. why buy him an electrical grooming appliance and pass it off as a wonderful gift? something like a razor is a very personal thing and should be purchased out of neccesity. Nothing says i love you like an appliance!!! Go for something thoughtful, nothing says it better than a special evening, together, and if you are on a budget its not a problem, together time is whats important, a restaurant is all well and good, but a picnic of homemade goodies is even better,breads & cheeses, strawberries & cream, have a romantic evening, all for him, music & candles, run him a bath, the possibilities are endless and i’m sure a few hours spent like this will be really appreciated. Why would you shave before washing your face? The oil from your skin will clog the razor and make it gross. I see nothing wrong with washing after shaving to remove the pieces of hair that may have stuck to your skin. I wouldn’t think there’s a problem either way.
My advice, don’t buy one, use a normal razor. If you use an electric one and you have to sterilize it every time you use it, if you don’t your just going to get pimples and maybe even a rash. It’s easier to use a razor instead of an electric shaver because you can’t wash the electric one.
There are a few things that could affect this. First, be certain your hot water heater is set at about 120 degrees f. That’s an optimum temperature for dishwashers and not so hot you’ll take your skin off in the shower. Sometimes it helps to run the hot water in the sink until it’s good and hot just before starting the dishwasher. Second, be sure you’re not putting too much detergent in the dishwasher. We switched to the prepackaged pellets in our house. Third, be sure you’re not overloading the machine and that nothing is blocking the rotation of the spray heads. If that’s happening the machine can’t properly rinse the dishes after the wash cycle. Fourth, try using the anti-streak products on the market. There’s a place for them in the dishwasher with a screw off cap. Hope this helps.
For appliances in the past we have been very happy with our kennmore and kitchenaid stainless steel appliances, not too expensive but will last you a long time, also you may want to check in the consumer reports and ask the store staff for their opinion.
I dont know much about it but electrolux has been advertising on tv and looks interesting. gp tp http://www.electroluxappliances.com I have kitchenaid IC series european dishwasher which is quiet. Also kitchen aid ovens, cooktop and microwave which have been reliable. Refrigerator is a GE profile and is noisy.
Take the screws out that hold it in the hole in the wall, pull it out of the hole, lay it(dishwasher) on it’s back and disconnect it. Give dad a beer while you are doing this:)
Depending how often you wear those particular shoes, I think so. I wore mine everyday to work beause I also had a stand up job, as well as getting foot gaurds I would replace them every year at the longest. Your feet will thank you!

Smart! New Balance are consistently rated as the best shoes for running and walking. They don’t have the hype and marketing of brands that appeal to younger people, but serious runners know New Balance shoes are amazing.

As you are a neutral runner, you should avoid thick sole shoes. So what i would recommend to you is the Asics Gel Kayno 14 for running shoes for women. They are widely recognized by their comfort and they fit mostly neutral runners.
