Don Cornelius, Creator of Soul Train, Dead at 75

Don Cornelius, Creator of the African American dance show Soul Train, died February 1, 2012 of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The iconic figure is credited for breaking many musical acts and bringing a popular dance show to the African American community that was also watched worldwide by people of all ethnicities. He hosted the show from 1971- 1993 and his popular mantra, "Love, Peace and Soul," was copied and mimicked by many. Funeral arrangements are pending. Photo taken at "Taste of Soul" by Kim Webster.
