Commentary-Let’s Seize This Moment

The moment is finally here.  It is the eve of the 2012 Presidential Election, and Americans are faced with a crucial decision.

For many, it is a difficult choice, especially those that are still struggling in our sagging economy. For others, the choice is easier. They realize the chaos our country was in four years ago and the strength and determination it took to right the ship and get our country moving in the right direction.

They know the right choice is for our President, Barack Obama to serve one more term.

For journalists, tonight is a busy night for us, covering the election, which is, perhaps, the biggest story in the world right now. But this story is bigger than just a typical news story. This is about changing and improving our nation, our world. We are blessed to have a leader like Barack Obama. He is passionate but calm. He is steady, but compassionate. And he finds a way to be tough and stern when he needs to be.

It’s tragic, but many Republican’s sought out to see Obama fail. They even said that it was their goal to make him a “one term president.” Many people blame him for the lack of bipartisanship in Washington, when the other side rebuffed him at every turn. Yet, in spite of their efforts, our President still managed to succeed, saving the auto industry, killing Osama bin Laden, ending the Iraq war, ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and being a fighter for the middle class among many, many other accomplishments.

In Florida, it is well documented in regard to the attempt to disenfranchise several voters by lengthy waits in line to vote. It smacks of the 50’s and the 60’s, of voter intimidation and fraud. Amazing that still exists today, in 2012. That’s why we, The Scoop LA, urge you to get out and vote for the clear choice in this election, Barack Obama. We respect, however, your right to vote for whomever you choose.  But give our President another four more years. Let’s seize this moment to make our country prosperous once again.
