Getting In Touch With Our Higher Self

Ethereal. Enchanting. Fairylike. Whimsical. Visions of wonderment and imagination.

Those are just a few of the superlatives that can be said about the fashions of Ashleigh Mason, a mega-talented fashion designer and influencer, who is now debuting a new and exciting fashion brand, Faye Dreamgirl, this summer. “Faye Dreamgirl is about getting in touch with our higher self and embracing it,” said Ashleigh Mason, who is launching her collection this summer 2023, her first SS23 collection. “Our style at Faye is perfectly imperfect, very whimsical, messy yet elegant. We try to relay in our style that you don’t need to be perfect and that it’s empowering to be authentic in one’s own essence and style.”

Originally from Laguna Beach, Ashleigh now makes her home on the coast of the Pacific, in Malibu. After attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) for product development, the designer started Faye Dreamgirl during the pandemic in 2020. The pandemic was a devastating circumstance for so many people, businesses and families, but many used the pandemic to develop their crafts. Ashleigh developed a keen eye for resourcefulness during that crucial time.

“As things began to open up in the world again, I felt inspired to start making my friends dresses to go out in,” she reflected. She started by making custom dresses & outfits for her closest friends in LA, to producing a full collection in Paris & Milan. When asked about what encapsulates her brand, Ashleigh answered the question with a context that can be defined as soothing and spiritual.

“Faye Dreamgirl is about getting in touch with our higher self and embracing it,” she explained, desiring that people look for and embrace their inner child. “We want people to stop being hard on themselves, if you see a little girl or little boy in a photo, they’re like two or three years old, they aren’t hard on themselves, so I try to bring that energy to people, to show them that’s okay, to show them that they don’t have to be perfect and we can make you beautiful and make you feel beautiful about yourself in all aspects. And that’s what the brand is about.”

While Los Angeles is still growing as a fashion capital and definitely not a huge fashion mecca as New York, Paris or Milan, the LA Fashion scene is exploding and Faye Dreamgirl, with Ashleigh Mason at the helm will help to bring attention to Los Angeles and its fashion sensibilities.

She had an exhibition in Paris that gave her tremendous confidence in her brand and fashion sense. “We had a whole studio and we decorated it, hung the dresses up everywhere, it was really cool, like an art exhibition sort of thing,” she said. “We had art there, we had other artists that collaborated with us.” With her success in Paris, Ashleigh developed a model to work from that she hopes to utilize in the future.

“At Faye, we also make an effort in collaborating with other emerging artists, designers, models, and musicians,” she explained, when asked about what she sees in the future for her brand. “We feel it’s important to lift each other up and create a community of creative individuals that want to spread their magic through their art.” For Ashleigh, starting this brand was like creating a family, a “Faye family.” A Faye family represents the whimsical nature of fairies. “It’s a place I feel safe to be myself and I hope I can create a space for others to feel the same,” she said. “My hope is that people that buy and view my brand can find home in a community and to find home in yourself. Self-love is a journey and through Faye I hope to inspire women to love themselves and their bodies.”
