Beverly Hills- H.O.M.E. (The House Of Music and Entertainment) in Beverly Hills, was the locale of a Gospel Revival, spearheaded by sensational singer/songwriter Kadesh aka Desiree Coleman Jackson. Kadesh, the wife of former NBA star Mark Jackson, a color correspondent for the NBA, simply took the lucky audience to church. “I’m extremely proud of my wife,” said Mark Jackson. “Talk about somebody that deserves it, she’s a true woman of God. She sacrifices as a mother and a wife and it’s just her time. I’m extremely proud and humbled, that God said ‘He who finds a wife finds a good thing,’ and I couldn’t have found a better thing than my jewel.”
Kadesh introduced her CD, “Strip,” for the private audience and it was a real treat. Kadesh thrilled the gathering with vocal gymnastics that would do any gospel venue proud. Her voice soared at times and everyone in attendance was simply captivated. Her band was very tight, energetic and tasty. Her background vocalists were simply amazing, and Kadesh gave them all a piece of the spotlight in the last song of the evening. She also allowed her band to stretch out and it included a solo by the bassist. It was refreshing to see Kadesh’s husband Mark Jackson dancing and filming the performance while he cheered his wife on. He is a fine example of a great father and devoted husband.
A number of celebrities attended the event, including Judge Mablean, Kiki Shepard, NBA star Doug Christie and actress Chanel Minnifield, of the show “Tabloid,” which airs in July on the Discovery Channel. Down-to-earth NBA star Kenny Smith, an NBA and NCAA analyst, was among the celebrities. “I’m known Mark and Des their whole marriage,” said Kenny Smith. “I’ve known Mark my whole life, pretty much. I’ve always been a fan of Des, I always love to hear her sing, and when I get the opportunity I run to see her.” Smith’s wife Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith spoke about their show on TBS. “Currently we have a reality show called ‘Meet The Smiths’ and I’m producing as well as starring in it,” she said. The show airs on Fridays at 6PM and 8:30 on TBS. Check your local listings.
Mark Jackson captured the ambience and spirit of the amazing night of entertainment. “Well that’s what you get,” said Jackson, when asked about having church at the CD debut extravaganza. “People not only can have church in a building, church is within us, and it’s important to show the light of God no matter where we go.”
Amen.
