“From the first fiery note to the last whispery phrase, Christine Rosander’s voice grabs hold and doesn’t let go, stirring up yearning and desire long after a song has ended.”

Many of Rosander’s songs emphasize her gospel roots and evoke a spiritual quest. In 2007, she co-wrote and produced her debut solo album “Smooth Ride,” which earned her an “Independent Female Vocalist of the Year” nomination from the Los Angeles Music Awards.

One of the album’s singles, “Traveling Mercy,” explores the idea of a higher power. Her latest single, “Been a Long Time,” celebrates her grandfather, Ray Rosander, and the need we all have to connect with each other.

“I was asking questions about who anchors us — to family, to love, and who connects us to the earth. For me that person was Grandpa Ray. He was a simple man, a farmer, but he taught me so much about life by his example. He had a friendly, easy-going way and a deep, spiritual love of life. He wasn’t tied to material things. He was proud of his small domain and the ability to provide for his family.

“I went through some tough years, lost myself in an abusive marriage and was left filled with self-doubt and fear. Connecting with Grandpa’s memory has been healing. I’ve been reminded of what’s really important in life and that I am surrounded with love. Grandpa was someone who could always be counted on to be himself and writing this song allowed me to connect with my authentic self and remember who I am.”

“I see this theme running through my songs,” she says. “It’s about a journey, about asking for strength, asking for help, finding peace and healing.”

Rosander grew up in Elk Grove, California – just outside Sacramento. She learned to sing from her mother, a voice and piano teacher, and began soloing in church at age five. Later, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Commercial Composing and Arranging from Cal State Long Beach. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from USC.

Currently, Rosander lives in Los Angeles working as a professional singer, musician and songwriter and is busy putting the final touches on her latest album.“I’m open to new possibilities and excited about how God will use my music,” she says.

“Been a Long Time” is my prayer for listeners. I hope they experience the healing power of music and are reminded of what is really important in life — the people we love and how we can make a difference in the world.”

Christine Rosander's “Been A Long Time,” premieres on February 16th At El Cid, 4212 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029.
