2011 Latin GRAMMY Nominees Announced

The early morning press conference held on September 14, 2011, at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA, opened with a high energy video montage of past Grammy winners eliciting anticipation of the nominatations this year.

The Scoop LA was there, amidst legendary and popular musical artists- two-time Latin Grammy winner Pepe Aguilar, Lena Burke and Jorge Villamizar of Latin pop trio Alex, Jorge Y Lena; urban/hip-hop duo Calle 13; Latin Grammy-winning producer Desmond Child; singer/songwriter Myriam Hernández; pop singer Merche; Norteño band Los Tucanes de Tijuana; Latin pop singer Reyli; and Ángel Mosqueda and Rodrigo Guardiola of alternative rock band Zoé who all took the stage to announced the nominees.

As the last nomination unfolded, Calle 13 killed it with 10 Latin Grammy nods including Album Of The Year.

Other multiple nominees included producer/engineer Rafa Arcaute with six, De Vita had five, Marco Antonio Solis with four nods; artists garnering three nominations Pablo Alboran, Desmond Child, Paquito D’Rivera, Sebastian Krys, Maná, Ricky Martin, Joan Sebastian, Shakira, and Zoe; and among those with two nominations Alex, Jorge, y Lena, Aureo Baqueiro, Ruben Blades, Gustavo Borner, Claudia Brant, David Cabrera, Doctor Krapula, Don Omar, Paula Fernandes, Alejandra Guzman, IL Volo, La Vida Boheme, Los Tigres Del Norte, Pitbull, Sie7e, Caetano Veloso, and Wisin y Yandel.
