A Smash Hit

By Maurice Dwayne Smith

This summer, a well publicized and eagerly anticipated media appreciation and Hawaiian buffet event quickly became not only an incredibly successful networking extravaganza, but also a heartfelt summer-ending smash hit, as actors, models, journalists, singers, and media moguls, such as, Jeff Gund, CEO and founder of Infolist.com celebrated Maria Amor’s, “The Mr. & Mrs. Perfect Creature Press Conference,” at The Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, Sunday August 28, 2011, at UCLA, in West Los Angeles. These beautiful and merry celebrities also discovered that business can be pleasurable, as they ate and drank merrily, sparking, and sealing both careers and new friendships, amidst an Hawaiian Luau atmosphere.

Amidst “wave-like” pulsating beats, provided by one of Amor’s “Perfect Team” members, Hayavi Moradi , an international DJ, actor, television-movie producer, the electric mood pulsed with the urgency and exhileration of a bright Hollywood red carpet event. This event took place outdoors on a well manicured green grass landscape, right around the corner from the entrance to Bel Air-a community of the rich and ultra affluent, near Bellagio Drive.

A red carpet experience, complete with a superstar beautitian to many award winning projects and their stars, such as Tyler Perry and Billie Dee Williams, Wanda Patterson was part of the Exoti- Lua program. Both were provided for the “perfect creature” hopefuls and many were veterans of many commercials, beauty pageants, movies, television shows and MTV & BET award shows, ESPN commercials and soap operas. Two models that caught my eye were Aribella Maori, a very beautiful African American model and actress and Rasheed Smith, a very muscular actor-model, of BET and ESPN, respectively.

Pig meat, which is traditionally served at Hawaiian luaus, was cooked by Chef Pais Donovan. It was indeed moist, tasty and served with an assortment of grilled chicken and grilled smoked vegetables. Chef Donovan, deliciously and professionally adorned and made the delicious cuisine available to everyone present.

Maria Amor, CEO and founder of Exotifit for Humanity, a non-profit organization that helps the disadvantaged through vehicles of arts and entertainment, has assembled an array of highly skilled professionals known as “The Perfect Team.” This affair was advertised as “Exoti–Media Appreciation.” This is her baby and her media appreciation press conference began at the Luau table. The Perfect Team, possessing skills ranging from artistic, administrative, journalistic, and creative, stood and introduced themselves. Next, funds, acquired through a raffle were given to journalist, Mitchell Freeman, and his disabled brother. Another very talented journalist and little known incredible bass player, TheScoopLA.com owner, Buddy Sampson, was present, also one of the nominees for Amor’s journalism award.

Finally, the sponsors were introduced. In addition, it was reported that the The Media Appreciation Awards would follow dinner.

A press conference announced that on September 10, 2011, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA, that the “We Care for the World” event will not only be celebrating Global Independence Day, and be remembering the tragic events of 9/11, but also, that 196 countries will be participating. There will be 20 global awards, including The Michael Jackson Award presented, and Los angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and The Prime Minister of India have already been confirmed.

Surprisingly enough, Maria Amor performed an Hawaiian dance that was not only both exotic, and erotic, but it also glazed, dazed, and amazed everyone that was present. It was an event that emphatically lived up to its advertisements and expectations.
